An entertainment company wants to restore the Queen Mary to sailing shape. The ocean liner has been docked in Long Beach since the city bought it in 1967 from Cunard and then leased operations to a private company.
Cairngorm Entertainment Group is backing the Queen's Project, an organization soliciting funds for the proposal. It's estimated to cost $1.5 billion and requires at least four years of dry-dock restorations.
The Queen Mary is currently a floating tourist complex featuring an onboard hotel, restaurants and exhibits.
