The captain of a cruise ship carrying dozens of victims of swine flu among its 5,000
passengers was reported to Italian authorities Friday for allowing
tourists to disembark at Civitavecchia on Thursday.
On Friday the Royal Caribbean`s Voyager of the Seas
docked in France where local authorities said 60 crew members
have the virus while another 70 people on board are showing
symptoms.
However, only 42 people were placed in isolation when it
docked in Civitavecchia Thursday, and other passengers were
allowed to come ashore to visit the Italian town, allegedly
contravening health and safety procedures under which they
should have stayed on board as possible carriers of the
virus.
The number of cases aboard the ship has shot up since it
docked in Naples on Tuesday, when a few dozen people were affected.
