Crew members and local firefighters extinguished a blaze aboard the ”Zenith”, the former Celebrity Cruises vessel that now sails for Celebrity’s sister line Pullmantur Cruises in Spain.
The ship was docked in Stockholm when the fire broke out yesterday afternoon, but almost 1,000 of the 1,600 passengers on the current sailing had already left for shore excursions. Two passengers were apparently treated for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
The “Zenith” went to Pullmantur after Celebrity’s parent company (Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.) bought the line two years ago; it was swapped for the “Blue Dream” which became the initial ship for Azamara Cruises.
